MP) MP decided to try and make the Cinnamon Raisin bread again. I figured I’d try a sweet bread setting on the back up bread machine, because the basic bread setting made for a darker bread on the bottom of the silo bread. So, a different setting, and since the raisins were ‘shredded’ last time, I decided I’d go with adding the raisins at the ‘Add Fruit Beep’. However, either I missed it and no one else was paying attention, or the Sweet Bread setting does not have the ‘Add Fruit Beep’. So, this time, we made Cinnamon Raisin Bread – Raisins optional. Also delicious on it’s own with regular butter, no raisin butter required. My daughter also requested regular bread this weekend, so we mixed up some white Best Bread in the Bread Machine. I also felt creative this weekend and decided to make a pulled pork sandwich recipe. Unfortunately, I should have done an ingredient check on this one because it turned out to be improvised pork sandwich recipe. Then I thought it would be good to try the Savory Buns recipe from last week. So, I started throwing ingredients in the bread machine pan again, before doing an ingredient check. If you’ve checked out the ingredients the savory part of the buns is made with pressed garlic and basil. Garlic, check.. Basil? Not so much. So, scrounging around in my cupboard for any savory like seasonings, I found a Tastefully Simple Salsa seasoning. So, why not? Mixed them up, smelled delicious and shaped the buns, rise, and bake. They smelled delicious, and tasted great too. Maybe not a fabulous mix with BBQ pork, but was still delicious. Hubby, daughter, and self thought they were delicious. Son, not a fan of garlic, who knew? With his pride of being the hot and spicy one of the family, you would of thought garlic would have been his friend.
CL & JL) JL tries again at making the ‘Perfect Loaf.’ Ever since getting the CBK-100s JL has not been able to make a loaf of bread that doesn’t fall during the baking cycle, but CL, always makes a ‘Perfect Loaf’. JL uses the same ingredients in the same order, but her loaf falls in the center, or in the case of this week, the loaf decided to fall at a 45 degree angle. One half of the bread was normal height and the other half fell. CL reported that trying to put the loaf in the bread keeper, he had to press the risen side down to get it to slide into the keeper. So, she’s getting closer to making the perfect loaf, but still far from it. On Tuesday, JL put all the ingredients into the CBK-100 and placed a sticky note on the top indicating to whoever got home earliest to ‘Press Start’, because she wasn’t confident that the other members of the household would be home by a certain time. So, she didn’t feel comfortable with setting the timer for a delayed bake. Thinking that maybe if she didn’t press the start button, maybe the loaf would bake properly into a ‘Perfect Loaf’. Apparently the baking cycle was completely successful, and the bread rose and rose up to the little window in the top of the machine, just about touching the lid. So, it rose out of the pan and still does not meet the standards of ‘Perfect Loaf’. At the beginning of this journey into the Bread Machine Lifestyle, JL bought 3 single packets of yeast and then they were at Sam’s club and purchased in bulk. They were able to buy two 1LB bricks of yeast. JL reports this week, that at almost 6 months of use, they have completed their first brick of yeast and are busting opening a second brick.
