The Updates:
MP) I’m still using the backup Black and Decker bread machine. My Beer Bread exploded out of the machine while I was in the baking cycle before the “Marshall Souper Bowl”. (I attempted to make a 2 lb beer bread, tried again with a 1 lb loaf and it did remain inside the walls of the pan.) My non-beer white bread, also reached the top of the machine while baking this weekend, so I must be doing something right as my bread is ‘RISING’ to the challenge.
JL & CL) CL is still rocking the bread making at their house. MP has resorted to just sending him the beer bread recipes. He tried the Beer Bread Pizza dough and has a CBK-100 pizza dough hack for us. If you use the Pasta setting while mixing the pizza dough, it’s done in 19 minutes instead of the 1.5 hour setting of the dough setting. They used their backup machine for a while, but the Tall Loaves of bread are not what the bread eaters at their house desire, so they decided the back up machine could make pizza dough, just not make loaves of bread. They ordered their replacement pan from the Cuisinart parts replacement center, and they found out that Cuisinart will ship it for free as well, so it was cheaper than getting it from Amazon. They received their replacement pan between snow storms, however no new “Perfect Loaves” have been created from the new pan as of yet. I did send CL the Beer Bread recipe that exploded out of my machine last week. He did alter the beer bread pizza dough recipe though some. Mixed the ingredients out of order. (make the beer flat, option 1, option 2), throw the tablespoon of corn meal down and roll the dough out, brush the outer edge of the crust with olive oil, “dock it” (poke it with a fork) bake at 400 for 5 to 10 minutes, and then add sauce toppings and bake until done. Delicious!! Thumbs up!
JP) The pressure of committing to a bread machine must have been too much for JP. He’s on vacation this week, so no update on if he fulfilled his commitments of purchasing a bread machine representing the bread machine enthusiasts in the Eagan office.
MJ) MJ did not report on the Sour Dough bread starter that she started last week (although, I don’t think she made it in the bread machine), but did report that the Croutons are a hit. (I gave her the suggestion outside of the last bread machine update meeting.) They have finished consuming the first batch of croutons and are now needing to make some more.
MJ) MJ sent updates after the initial message went out. MJ made banana bread in her machine over the weekend – YUM! She did mix the batter up ahead of time – cuz she wasn’t sure if it would properly mix the ingredients, but after paying attention, she will ‘dump’ and ignore next time! Yes, it was a regular banana bread recipe from an old church cookbook. MJ’s machine has a ‘batter bread’ option…if you don’t have one, you could use the bake only option. MJ also made a loaf of sour dough bread in the machine. That was a big hit with her husband. MJ ‘fed’ her sour dough starter, left it is on the counter for 24 hours and now it is back in the frig waiting for another test.

Banana Bread from the old church cookbook
½ c shortening or butter
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c mashed bananas – I used 2

Blend all ingredients. Makes 1 loaf.
Oven method: Bake at 350 for approx. 50 mins.
Happy baking!
