Summer is approaching quickly and the kids are going to be out of school. I’ve been trying to think about what little side gig my son could do and I was dreaming about how nice it would to have clean windows. It was a quick thought about how he could do it, what he could charge per window, how lots of people would like to have their windows cleaned every spring.
Within one week of these thoughts, a Facebook post from a friend declaring how things seem much brighter now that Ike’s Window Washing had been to her house and cleaned her windows. I spent some time interviewing Ike and he had all kinds of great tips and offered to help in several ways. He had indicated it was a great way to make money in the spring and summer.
Fast forward about a month. Jolene and I are on our way to a shopping trip (all in budget of course). We’re discussing our future dreams and know that during retirement we’ll probably be working, but not at our current jobs. I explained the thoughts I had about my son starting up his own window washing business and Jolene says, “Maybe we should be window washers?” She went on, to say, that she was fairly sure they had the pickup, ladder, and even scissor lift to lift us to those second story windows.
My husband currently works at a glass shop, and has some window washing techniques we could learn. I have the connection with Ike to help us get our business plan in place as well as our pricing guide.
Definitely a possibility…. Let’s be Window Washers.
