Through one of our conversations Jolene asked me, “What does retirement look like?” While on the phone going back and forth, trying to figure it out, checking in on what we’ve learned today. I received a picture of my husband who was on a “planned” repeating vacation. Since my husband has always squirreled away money into his secret stash even before we were married, I knew I was not going to change his plan nor take his vacation away. He has saved for this vacation and has every right to use his secret stash however he wants too. Yes, sometimes he uses it on family vacations too.
I know some people think this is probably not fair to me, who also works hard and needs time away too. I get my time to sneak away here and there for my own special trips to theater shows or shopping with friends, that he stays home with the kids, so do not feel like I’m being neglected.
Anyway, the vacation he takes annually with some other guys is a trip to Canada in the early spring. This year, they even worried if the ice would be off of the lake. The fishing is amazing during this time at the resort. I love to fish too, but I’m less obsessed about being out there in the icy water. He keeps telling me, I would love it, and we need to go together some year and that does build some excitement for me.
So, when viewing the picture and having a discussion about What does Retirement Look Like? I had the answer:

Please share what retirement looks like through your journey to retire.
